Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a chiropractor and an Osteopath?

We work in a very similar way treating muscular, skeletal pain conditions and similarly have protected titles and have to gain a university based education in order to practice. There is a joke within the industry that the main difference between the two is the spelling!

What happens at a consultation?

Consultations take about an hour and consist of a discussion about your condition and medical history before a physical examination. During the examination we will look at the body as a whole as sometimes the pain you are feeling may be ‘referred pain’ from another area of your body.

We will then draw up a diagnosis and treatment plan which we will go through and send you a written copy.

Do I need a referral to see an Osteopath?

We work via direct access meaning you don’t need a referral. However, a GP or Dentist may recommend our services.

Do you accept health insurance?

Many health insurance providers allow customers to claim back the costs of appointments and treatments. We are a recognised provider of osteopathy and chiropractic treatmeants with AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, and we can also provide the correct receipts for Medicash and many other insurance providers.

What's the difference between a physiotherapist and an Osteopath?

Osteopaths look at the body as a whole and work to assist the body’s own healing processes rather than simply treating the symptoms. Like Physios we do set exercises to aid the recovery process and can diagnose and treat the same conditions.

Will you give me exercises to do at home?

We will gradually introduce stretches and exercises through the progression of your treatment plan. As your body heals and your pain subsides we will build these up. At this point we will offer for you to join one of our classes or book one-one sessions with our patient coordinator.

Do I have to undress at my appointment?

Sometimes we need to remove outer garments in order for us to examine you however, we do provide gowns and if this is something you are uncomfortable with you can wear t-shirt and shorts.

Will the treatment hurt?

Occasionally you may feel some discomfort following a treatment as the body starts to repair. If you feel any significant pain during the appointment we will stop immediately.
